I've always been fascinated by how birds show up everywhere in our language and culture—from nursery rhymes to slang, poetry to everyday phrases we don't even think about. Growing up, I spent time in both urban and rural settings, which gave me a real appreciation for how different birds carry different meanings depending on where you are and who you're talking to. By day I work in educational content, but I'm endlessly curious about etymology, folklore, and why humans have woven birds into our stories and sayings across thousands of years. I keep a small notebook of bird phrases I encounter, and I have two rescue budgies named Pip and Squeak who remind me daily why these creatures matter.
